A live, multi-module capacity-building programme โ design African DH projects, work with digital data, and apply responsible AI, supported by CourseHub.
The African Digital Humanities 2026 Hackathon is a live, multi-module capacity-building programme supported by the CourseHub e-learning portal. What began as a Communalytic-focused hackathon has grown into a broader training and project-development event: participants design African Digital Humanities projects, work with digital data, use textual and social-media analysis tools, understand AI-supported research workflows, and apply research ethics in digital scholarship.
Live Zoom workshops are the main delivery mode, with CourseHub hosting learning materials, tasks and recordings. Sessions run on weekday evenings (6:00โ8:00 pm London time), with optional weekend clinics. July 2026 is used for onboarding and preparation; the main event window is August 2026, closing with a project showcase, feedback and certificates.
The pathway: registration and onboarding, live attendance, CourseHub tasks, a mentored mini-project, and a final showcase. Certification is based on attendance and a presented project.
